Low-income groups feel the burden of debt

Central bank moves to cool lending come as many Brazilians are feeling the pinch of paying by instalments.

Cristina Campos is caught in a vicious circle. The 58-year-old Sao Paulo school teacher owns her own apartment, but still has debts equal to more than ten times her R$3,000 ($1,804, GBP 1,118, €1,307) monthly salary.
